I am leaving on June 11th for my cruise - I have paid for my cruise in full already, and know I can still get insurance thru Carnival. I have read their booklet and ALL that they offer....just wondering IS IT WORTH IT TO BUY THEIR INSURANCE? Should I go thru them or someone else? Does anyone know if they are fare if you have had to use the policy? IF NOT; ANY SUGGESTIONS ON ANOTHER COMPANY I can use? If everyone has had good luck with them they I will just go a head and get their plan. $49 per person seems fare to me. But I don't think I should take a chance a sail with/out insurance!! SCARY!!

ive always gone with a third party insurance company because its usually cheaper and sometimes the coverage is better
go to insuremytrip.com - it lets you compare lots of different providers....just be sure to thoroughly ready the policy, and you should be fine.....in the past, ive used TravelInsured and one other company i can't remember the name of now, and was satisfied (but i didnt make a claim, either)
Hope, make sure it covers trip interruption, medical evacuation, and health issues that might affect family members back home. (For the last part, pre-existing conditions will unlikely covered, with the exception of one company I can think of off-hand.)
Lisa- thank you for the advise. The interruption clause / coverage is one of the most important parts for us since we will be leaving out of Mobile June 11th and that is during the very first part (June 1st-Dec 1st) of Hurricane Season here on the Gulf Coast.
I would definitely get insurance. I personally don't think Carnival's is that great, and would check out the third party providers. All good points, especially the trip interruption. We have read so many horror that would have had a better ending if they would have had insurance.
Dwayne- I've been doing a little homework and I've read some horror stories myslef! I will be purchasing some soon. I have two in mind so far that seem to cover EVERYTHING we need (a third party is the way to go I think now as well; after reading and taking everyone's advice) The two companies that I'm thinking of going with are 1)$66.00 per person and 2)$68.00 per person both offer pretty much the same things - just a two dollar difference in price. I think one is a little more established than the other, so I'll probably go with that one.
