I know in the winter you should fly in a day early. But in late summer do you think it would be alright to fly out on the same day as the cruise, We live near Atlanta,we are flying to miami. First flight is 620 am,so we have plenty of time

Casanova is right... I wouldn't risk it from Hartsfield (or any other airport for that matter). Booking a same day flight to a cruise ship is like playing craps before you even board the ship. Why take on the stress when you can just stay at a local hotel the night before and stretch your vacation by one day? I know it adds a little expense but, if you could put a price tag on peace of mind, you would find it well worth the added money.
Actually I think there are more flight delays in the summer than in the winter. Those nasty ol' thunderstorms wreak more havoc on flight schedules than snow does.
Ditto on all the above. Of course, I can't wait to get to Ft. Lauderdale or Miami. It's just that much more time to take in the wonderful sea air, kick back and relax, and have no worries. Wish I were going now Heck we drove down the day before we left out of Mobile and it's only a 5 1/2 hour drive.
This is a true story - I've told it here before ... We weref flying from Tucson to LA - a one hour flight. We were supposed to leave Tucson at 10:00 A.M. We eventually boarded the ship at 4:30 p.m. America's Worst screwed up again, and didn't get us off the ground until 3:00.... I have learned it is always better to be safe than sorry. If you can, fly/drive at least one day early.
i agree it is better to fly in the day before it possible. last fall we could not fly in the day before because of a family wedding, if we missed it, it would cause hard feelings.(and of course it was a night wedding) so we flew in the day of the cruise. it was the most miserable few days before the cruise because I was so worried about flight problems. never again. I will go the day before if at all possible.
My first cruise left out of San Juan, so we got down there two days early to enjoy the sights and beaches!! Another cruise I just lived an hour away from port so that was AWESOME and this cruise we are driving to Jacksonville from Indianapolis to save some money!!! More money for booze and casino I say!!!
