good excursions for families?

We are to set sail from Miami on Carnival Valor January 2011. My husband and I with our 3 children ages 12,11 and 7, along with my parents early 70's. It will be our first cruise. I would like to know of any must do excursions?! We are stopping in cozumel, roatan, belize and grand cayman. (Thinking my kids would luv monkeys?!) Any other tips for first time cruisers would be appreciated

Hi rl2knot1, welcome to Cruise-Chat! Congratulations on your up-coming cruise. Sounds like it will be a great family adventure. If you'll look a little further down on our main page, you'll see a Caribbean Port Chat section. You can use your "Find" feature in the upper left hand corner and type in your ports, it will pull up all the posts made about them. You will probably find something of interest and can ask questions about those. It's hard to know what y'all enjoy doing. We did the swim with the dolphins in Cozumel and it was fantastic. We've also done the Tulum ruins and Xel-ha and Paradise Beach and Chankanaab Park and other adventures. We snorkeled in Roatan, which was great. Same in Belize. Grand Cayman everyone does Stingray City. We've also done some great snorkels there and hung out on the beach at 7 mile beach.

And both Belize and Roatan have monkey parks.... so you should be set there!

Sting Ray City, Cave tubing, snorkeling and Mayan ruins are the normal tours for those ports... with kids though, you may want to skip the ruins and do those once the family is older. Follow Penny's advice and search our Caribbean port area you can get a much better idea of the things that are available and what to expect at each of those ports. We did the Valor cruise in September and its a great its a great cruise, you picker a good one for your first cruise!
