Going Feb 5 on the Dream. Have an 8E cat reserved but I am thinking it is too high up (deck 9) also it is directly under Lido deck. I am looking to go to the Aft (as I can only upgrade wiht the Early Saver)but wondering if you are looking straight to the Promenade with no real water view, also the cabins seem a little tight. Am on a wait list for the wratp arounds...yes I know, fat chance. Since it is my 50th & all thought I would try. Other wise I was thinking of upgrading to an O/S.

Well... you are correct in that an aft cabin on deck 9 would be directly below the lido adult pool area. Probably wouldn't be tremendously noisy but still... And you are also correct in that you would not be looking down into the water because of the design of the ship. With the wrap around promenade deck you will never get to look down directly into the water. You will be looking into the balcony of the deck below you (and conversely the decks above you will be looking into yours.) So this negates the aft balconies to some point but you still get the advantage of a large balcony and the lack of wind but not much else.
Hope that helps.

Thanks Jim. I will take note of all that. This is the reason for me wanting to switch to a lower deck...is to be able to see the water. I just feel deck 9 is so high up, may also feel more swaying up there, the balcony wrap on the Carnival Liberty was just a great experience.
I have also heard that the O/S cat. is not worth the extra $$$ as the cabin is the same as a regular balcony cabin other that the vanity area and washroom.
You have helped me make my decision, think I will just stay put and bring my binoculars.....
Thanks it all helps.

Be careful with the Dream. You say you want to be able to see the water (and I assume you mean looking down and not out ...well because any balcony is going to give you a view of the water).
There isn't a balcony on the Dream (unless you do a cove balcony on the Main deck) that is going to give you a view of the water looking straight down. This is because of the wrap around Promenade deck. Anything above it is looking down onto the promenade walk way. So you can't see directly into the water from the balcony. So I would choose based more on amenities than on the view. Pick a bigger balcony cabin (aft wrap or something) or a suite instead of worrying about a view you can't have. Or if you are a spa person, consider upgrading to a Spa balcony. The Dream is a very stable ship, you won't have too much motion unless the seas are really bad.

I think there's a little more difference than that.
8E - 185Sq ft cabin/Balcony 35sq ft. Bathroom-shower,toilet,sink. Sitting area- Sofa and coffee table. Balcony-2 patio chairs and small table.
OS- 275Sq ft/Balcony 65Sq ft. Bathroom-Shower, tub w/whirlpool,toilet,sink. Sitting area-Sofa,2 armchairs, coffee table. Dressing area is walk-in with vanity area and chair. Balcony-3 patio chairs and table.
Thank you for that. Yes it is a substantial difference, although we are travelling with another couple and we are looking to be at least on the same deck. We have upgraded to an aft...not a wrap...still am on a wait list for tha. We have 6494 &6496, if any one has pictures of either that would be great. I am just glad we are not on deck 9, the cabins we had were in total shade and we were directly under the Lido area. I know deck 6 is just above the comedy club but no worries for that as I will most likely be enjoying the show in the club and if not maybe I can hear it from my balcony Glad I switched, now I am sayng my Carnival prayers for that wrap.....after all it is my Birthday
