Requesting Ecstasy Feedback

Hello All,

My hubby and I will be going on our first cruise next month - 4 day baja, 25 days and counting > We will be celerating our 11th Wedding Anniversary.

I know there is always feedback going both ways. We are excited, going with a good attitude and will have a great time!

I would love if some of you that have been on the Ectasy would provide me with some feedback on your experience, provide me with some dos and donts and also what you wish you would have known before you went.

Be sure to let Carnival know it is your 11th anniversary and they will do some special things for you. You will have a wonderful time with your attitiude. Positive thinking always makes things work.

I took my Mom on the Ecstasy for her 60th birthday last November. There was not a long waiting line to board. We were probably at the pier to the ship within 40 minutes. The ship is an older one but she still has a lot of life left in her!Our room (M45) was clean and our room steward was wonderful. We took advantage of room service in the mornings for coffee and a couple of mornings it was late but they were nice enough to call and let us know. We ate breakfast and lunch at the buffet on the deck. The food was not the best I ever had but you did not hear me complaining! the coffee and juice bar says open all day so we never bought any soft drinks. We ate dinner in the dining room and the food was great! Our waiter and his assistant were great...it was obvious they were in love and would sneek "loving" looks at each other. It was so cute! Everywhere you go, you see the crew cleaning. I never noticed the smells and the dirty carpets like other reviewers have. I was having too much fun to notice little things like that! The casino was fun and I actually won more than I lost! We enjoyed sitting by the pool just watching the people. My mother has a hard time walking distances so we did not get off at any ports but Catalina Island looks so beautiful! After dinner, we would go to the Karaoke bars to watch the people who thought they could sing....the absolute best entertainment on board!!! The announcer was from Mass. and sounded just like a Kennedy! He was great and we loved the way he would get people on stage. We did catch one of the evening shows and the final Karoke contest that was done like American Idol. Both were great! The only complaint I had was their coffee bar. The coffee there is not very good and the cookie I bought must have came over on the Mayflower :&gt I took advantage of all the free desserts after that!

Overall, we had a great time. As long as you know you are not going on a luxury cruise, that everything will not be perfect, and that you will be getting what you pay for, I think you will have a great time! The crew are very friendly and do whatever they can to make you have a good time. I am excited because the Ecstasy will be coming to Galveston soon....just a day's drive for me. I hope you have a great time and will look forward to reading your review!!

Great review. The only thing I would comment on would be that the coffe stinks on just about every ship,(not just the Ecstasy) I have been on. I don't get it. How hard is it to make drinkable coffee? My wife and I thought that the cruise lines should lease space to Starbunks, but then we are addicted.

You are right about the coffee. If McDonalds can do a great job of making coffee, why can't a cruise ship? The coffee I was speaking of was at the speciality bar where you had to pay for it. I thought it would make a difference but it didn't. Eat the free desserts...not the cookies you have to pay for!

I did order some room decoration & wine to be in the room when we arrive to suprise the hubby upon arrival.

We just returned from our cruise on Ecstasy and we were also celebrating our 11th anniversary. We had a wonderful time and there are so many things to do all day long. Catalina was nice and romantic but not much to do. We spent about 2 hrs there and that was enough. Ensenada was a lot of fun, we took a shuttle bus to the blow hole and the flea market and it was 50% less expensive than the cruise tours. I can give you an idea of the activities onboard since I brought back with me all the capers newsletters for each day. e-mail me.

Tom; RCI now has Seattles best coffee when I was on the Splendour they said they had just started it so I am looking forward to it for my week on the Rhapsody. Carnival said they tried it years ago and no one liked it, I find that hard to believe, where do they get that stuff anyways? do they filter the gray water and call that coffee or what?
