Whats the cost of the soda card?

penny3333 07-20-2009 12:21 PM

It depends on the length of your cruise. It runs about $6/day times how ever many days you're gone.

Yes, $6 per day for adults. $4.50 per day for kids (under 16 I think). They also add 15% gratuity to the price when you buy it - so for a 7 night cruise an adult fountain fun card is $48.30, and $36.23 for kids.

If you drink soda it's a good deal in seeing a can is about $2.50 plus 15% gratuity at each bar. So if you drink a few soda's a day it pays for it's self, you don't get the whole can but you get refills, as many as you may want. Some bar servers get annoyed at having to bring them to you on deck because they rather sell your a cocktail but they will do it even if it takes 20 min to arrive back at your spot. The ones behind the bar will also wait sometimes to serve you prefering the alcholic beverage customer. Others have no problem depends on the crew's mood that day. I useally find a spot and use it for the whole cruise and in seeing the bar servers never change on the first soda i get from them i add a $10 tip and there are no more issues or need to ask they just keep the cup full. Another $10 after a few days is service is good enough and a $20 in cash the last day if it was spectuclar so far it's a extra $40 bucks a week to these guys and well worth it to grease the wheels of service at times. And i order mixed drinks too so don't think i'm just a soda drinker

ChefKevin-

I agree with you about the servers not giving the soda card people "priority". It does great annoying at times. The price of the card is supposed to include tip, but how can they do that if they don't know how many sodas you'll actually get? So your extra tip idea is fine but that only works if you use the same bar or server each time.

We don't normally get the card as we just don't drink that much soda, but when we did, I would normally order a drink when my kids got a soda anyway which helped insure speedy service.

Oh, and as Dave will tell you, the extra tip to your "chosen" bar's crew always helps with the service.

Yes indeed. I always take care of the staff at a couple favorite bars on the first day so they remember me - and my family. Vanessa doesn't get the soda card but on more than one occasion she has gotten free sodas because she was with me.

We get our son the soda card for convenience (plus he guzzles the stuff like water). Since we tend to hang out at the same places, those bartenders and waiters know me and therefore know my son, so he gets his Cokes with speedy service.
