Has anyone taken the summer cruise (Carnival Glory) out of New York up the coast to Halifax/St. John? We've never sailed before but are considering this one with our kids (ages 10 & 13). We want an inside cabin but are concerned about the size - does anyone have any personal photos to share?
Welcome to Cruise Chat.
I did this cruise, but not on the Glory. I went in the month of July. Weather can be cooler. When I went mid July 2005 it was rainy and foggy on the sea days. The day in Halifax was quite nice though. One never knows what the weather will be like anywhere. Halifax is a fun, interesting spot.
Cabin size is the same for most insides and ocean views. The balcony interior size is the same also. The only time you get a bigger size is booking an aft wrap balcony (corner cabin) or a suite.
The biggest difference between an interior vs outside is the lack of natural light. But you are normally out of the cabin anyway except to sleep/shower and change clothes, so don't worry about it.

The cabins are around 180 square feet, couldn't find the exact footage on their website. You'll probably get the one with upper and lower births. The upper births will be put up during the day, so it won't be too bad. You're not in your cabin that much and the main problem will be the bathroom. Trying to get ready for dinner all at once can present a problem too. However, many have done it and it can be managed. Just have to take turns or maybe the men can go to the gym and shower there. Best wishes and congratulations on your upcoming cruise. Just be advised, cruising is addictive
For four people, on this class of ship, we go with an OV on Main.
The layout does not make you feel as cramped.
We did the 7 day from New York on the Victory in Sept and loved it.
However, do be aware that ships that sail from New York (over all) do not get as good of reviews and when these very same ships sail from a Southern Port.
I have never been able to figure that out....but it happened on the Victory, the Legend and the Miracle.
Staterooms on the ships built by Fincantieri shipyards for Carnival Corp. are very roomy and comfortable cabins. The Carnival Glory is such a vessel, as is the Carnival Victory! Weare doing the run to Halifax and St.John aboard the Carnival Glory in early Sept. this year. It is a favorite cruise.
Generally, the passengers leaving from New York are a more critical group of cruisers and, like many folk from large cities anywhere...they are tough critics! Carnival is a fine cruiseline....Book the cruise....sit back on a chaise lounge in the new adults only retreat aboard the Glory.......sip on something with an umbrella in it ....and..enjoy...you are cruisin'!!!
