I just sent the "Price Protection Claim Form" in for an "up-deck" and $80 in On Board Credits. They added the Past Guest Rates to my cruise which included "up-decks" to a higher deck for less than what I am booked for. This happened last year too.
Thanks! I didn't get OBC's though. They gave me the $80 as a price reduction. They also didn't do my up-deck as I had requested on the form (which I was instructed to do). So I just finished playing transfer and hold phone ping-pong for 20 minutes. They got 'er done and I didn't raise any cane. The lady I usually speak with wasn't in today so they'd put me on hold while they conversed with someone else. Then they told me the up-decked cabin I asked for wasn't available. I told them it was. So when they checked again it magically was. I was proud of myself for being so patient.
I'm very happy about it though. I went from Riviera to Empress last year with multiple OBC's. If you have an Early Saver booking it definitely pays to watch the rates.
Dwayne, I am still 11 months out for my next cruise, but I am already watching the rates....just in case. I figure it might be awhile before they make any offers on that cruise...but I will be watching and waiting.
I had to ponder a bit with that one as I could have instead been up-decked one more deck. I figure I can walk up one deck for $40. If it drops again I will probably take the up-deck if it gets me where I really want to be...Mid-Ship Empress.
They are giving me price reductions because I haven't paid the final payment. When I do and the price drops then the OBC's will kick in.
A word of caution with using the Early Saver rates though. Last year when I had to cancel my Dream cruise and change it to the Fascination they charged a $50 per person Admin. fee. It worked out fine though as I racked up enough OBC's to far more than recoup it.
I am a bit confused...is the military discount considered "Available to the general public?" By their rules, the lower advertised fare has to be available to the general public in order to qualify.
