we booked our cruise on the dream over a yr ago, we used the early saver program. I found a cheaper price using the military rate which is what we used to book last yr. I called our carnival agent to ask if we coud take the credit and he said that we could not. that we booked under the early saver rate not the military rate. he said we could get the credit but we would have to go into a diffrent room. We have a 1 a as it is.
ok my question is last yr for the Glory we booked military, there was a price reduction and we got the credit. is my agent just being difficult?

The Early Saver rate has restrictions. Your PVP is being upfront about it. Once you book with Early Saver you are locked into it. Look HERE and pay attention to where it mentions fares available to "the general public".

If you are in a 1A, another probable reason the agent said you'd have to change cabins is because the military rates are only applicable to cabin categories 4A and above. The lower rate has to be for the same cabin category or above. If I was in a 1A I would take the upgrade if it was being offered.

Okay now I get it. Your booking may have got caught with the Cabin Recategorization. The new Category is PT (porthole). You should probably ask your agent to send in the claim form anyway and see what they say.

The Carnival Dream has both 1A with Port Holes 185 sq ft and PT ocean view portholes 220 sq ft.
I think we're missing information here. What date are you sailing?

You said you found a cheaper Military price. Where did you find this? I do not see September 18th Dream on the current Military discount list.

Yes it does.

I am definitely missing something with this. Maybe the PVP offered an upgrade instead of using the Early Saver price protection claim guidelines is all I can figure. I have gotten upgrades without sending in the form, however it was based on a Carnival advertised past guest rate. I went from an inside on Riviera to an outside on Empress once. You should ask what the difference is to get upgraded to a standard outside.

Even though the the ship and sail date is not listed in the Military Discounts, Carnival does have a Military Special going on May 1 - 31 in which the Dream is included. However reservations must be made during those dates as a stipulation and condition.

You can read about it HERE or in our news HERE.

This "may" be where some of the confusion is coming from.
