OK, back to the original question of how many formal nights on a 6 NIGHT cruise?? I went to the Carnival site that PCGUY referred to, and they are in reference as DAYS. So, if we are cruising 6 nights, isn't it the same as 7 days? Sorry, but I am still confused.
Has anyone else done this 6 night Liberty cruise that can clear this up??
Not really. It is easier to look at cruises from a "night" perspective since the days include the embarkation day which is really a half day or less, and debarkation day is but a couple of hours. But if you count nights then you are getting 6 full nights, and really 5 and a half days. Don't count debarkation day. I don't.
Sorry to make this even more confusing... we were on Carnival Victory, 5-night Canada cruise last summer, and had two formal nights. I just checked my daily papers to be certain.
This came as a surprise to everyone, as the pre-cruise documents indicated one formal night. So, pretty much nobody dressed formally for the second one, which was held the second-to-last night.
We were surprised, too. We thought perhaps it was the itinerary, or maybe as it was July 4. But, it was still odd, as nothing special was done for the 4th.
Despite this, I'd still plan on one formal night, but I'd bring a skirt or casual dress, and an extra button-down shirt for the guys, in the rare event this should happen again.
I would assume the odds of two formal nights on Carnival Holiday would be slim to none?

I've personally given up the tux and now go with suits. I decided that personal comfort is more important than complying with a perceived necessity or need to "look the part".

I second that, howmany photos in a Tux do you really need..
Yes, my husband's given up on the tuxedo in most cases. Both he and our son wore them on a HAL cruise in 2004, and were clearly in the minority. They haven't worn them since (not even on Celebrity last year -- they would have been in the minority, yet again).
