Carnival Cancels Liberty in Europe 2009

Hi all,
For those who may not have heard, Carnival as cancelled their 2009 Northern Europe cruises on the Liberty. We were booked on the June 26 sailing and were e-mailed today.

Glad I didn't book my flights yet, was due to do that today. Ugh.

Sorry about your Liberty cruise, etinca. I don't know if this helps, but Holland America (another Carnival Corp cruise line) said they'll honor Carnival's rates on a comparable Holland America cruise, if you do the transfer between now and November 14. If you booked through a travel agent, let the agent know about this. Otherwise, give Holland America a call and see if you can re-book a similar cruise.

Penny, it appears they decided to keep the Liberty in Florida and the letter we got seems to make me think that the costs to operate in Europe were too much for them. It is a disappointment indeed considering it is more challenging to find a kid friendly trip for Europe. I've been on Holland America and will give them a call to check it out.

Let us know what happens. I hope you can rebook. It's possible that other families will be doing the same thing, so that Holland America may have more families onboard these sailings than usual.

Just to follow up. We did rebook on the Holland America Eurodam. We booked a 14 night cruise from Copenhagen to London. It should be great. I am disappointed in the fact that we wont have our Carnival platinum "perks" (laundry, priorities, etc) that we would have on the Liberty. Oh well, I'm sure it will be great. Holland dropped the price $100 for the inconvenience.
