We booked with Carnival because of all the "Hype" on these message boards about how much fun the carnival cruises were and the way you were pampered. I am now convinced that Carnival employee's post most of this "Hype".

I am going to just say what I have to say and leave it at that.

First, this cruise was absolutely no fun. I would say that out of the 4 ½ days that we spent on this ship, the crew entertained us for a total of 6 hours. The activities were a complete joke, totally outdated. I am glad that I know how to make my own fun. I participated and volunteered in almost all of the activities only to leave them "going what the .

I should have taken advantage of that Carnival Guarantee and got the hell off of this ship. I was completely bored to tears!

I went to the pursers desk to complain that this was no "fun ship" and all I got was I am sorry your not having fun, our activity director has only been onboard for 2 weeks. Well at the captain's party they did say he was new on the ship, but had been with carnival on other ships for a while. All I can say to this is that Karl with a K, needs to go back to school or something, would have hated to been on the other ships he had directed. Karl did this cheesy "Tribute Show" that was just Karl putting on a wig or glasses and singing.

Also, we needed to change our dinner time and according to these post the pursers desk was where to go. Well don't go to the pursers desk, you have to hunt down the Matre de' which wasn't easy, so we just went to the dinner sitting we wanted, he had no problem changing it so he got a nice tip.

No one on this ship treated us special at all. Like I said, I participated in everything and the activity leader Greg didn't even know my name by the end of the cruise. Hell, he was so disgusted himself I think at the activities because he tried to cut them all short.

I can't believe that the dance club was shut down when people where still there spending money and trying to have a good time. The Karaoke was only 1 ½ hours long at that, and while people were standing in line, they would tell them that they couldn't do it, that they had to shut it down for Bingo. There were many rooms on this ship that were not being used for anything, and seemed like only 6 people were playing Bingo and plenty wanted to sing. $10.00 per Bingo card seemed a bit extreme, maybe that’s why only 6 people playing but the crowd was young and most could care less about Bingo.

Also, was shocked to see crew members just standing around doing nothing, hanging out with there boyfriends/girlfriends, in the clubs getting drunk and making fools of themselves on the dance floor.

I read that all ships had at least 2 pools. I guess the divider in the 1 pool was suppose to count as two. What a joke.

Food was absolutely horrible, and the captains dinner "Formal" was a complete joke. Didn't matter where you ate, buffet or dinning room, it all sucked and sadly the dinning room food sucked worst of all.

Our room steward Ardica did provide the service we expected, but forgot our names by the second day. We tipped him very well at the end of the cruise though I wasn't sure we should have tipped him as much as we did. I loved having the animal towels made up on my bed everyday, guess that’s what did it for me.

The only and I mean only thing that made this ship fun was the other passengers that we met onboard. We hooked up with some real fun people and just hung out with them the entire cruise. Everyone (the passengers) was really friendly and we enjoyed meeting and chatting with new people.

Most of the people that we met stated that they were pretty UN-IMPRESSED by the ship and the crew.

Drinks were good and plentiful.

Will be trying a different cruise line for any future plans, many said RCL was more exciting and much better food and staff.

My mother is leaving from Houston in November for her first cruise and I hope the staff and activities are better from that port.

Seemed to me that if you were GAY in anyway was the only way to get some activities out of the ship and friendly service, I didn't book a FoD cruise so I don't know why they had activities scheduled for them everyday.

I am so sorry you didn't enjoy your cruise on the Imagination. I sailed on her in August 07 as a surprise for my 21-year old son's birthday and we had a spectacular time. It was a 4-day from Tampa to Cozumel. One day at sea, one day in Cozumel and one day at sea.

I have been on only one non-Carnival ship, the Coral Princess in December 2006 to the Panama Canal. I had an awful time but I never wrote a review. I just kept on thinking about why it was so bad. The itinerary was great, the ship was older but still beautiful, the cabin was smaller than Carnival (suite) but it was nice anyway.

I found the real problem was the other passengers on the ship. They complained about EVERYTHING from the coffee not being hot enough or the coffee being too hot, too weak, too strong, only getting 5 shrimp on their coctail and someone else got 6 (really, I'm not kidding) to problems with not winning in the Casino. I listened to so many people unable to cope with whatever their vacation 'threw' at them and most were happy to complain to anyone within earshot.

I have since realized that I am thrilled EVERY time I step on a ship, I look forward to every vacation I have, love to spend the time with my family, enjoy not having to cook or clean for a week (or more, or less), a mostly enjoy people having the same amount of fun.

Your cruise will be what you make it. You cannot seriously expect gourmet food at each and every meal and snack, 24 hours a day, for less than $100 which includes your living accommodations and entertainment. I have never been able to attend ALL the activities, pick and choose, if you don't like one, pick another. Just don't complain if you don't like it. Obviously someone else does.

Attitude is everything. Please give Carnival another chance. You just may have happened on a trip with everyone out of sorts. The staff react to the way they are treated. If you greet them with a smile and a thank you, chances are they will smile back and remember you.

Keep cruising, however, I guess when you have an awful time, the only direction is UP!

Try it again,
Mary

I'm sorry to hear of your perception about this cruise too. I have never felt this way after going on a cruise. I am like Mary, and am thrilled every time I step on board.

I think attitude does come into play sometimes. Sure, I've had problems and issues on a cruise before. If it warrants me saying something I do it nicely and explain. They have always taken care of it. And no matter how much fun I'm having, I can still find both of the pools.

Maybe the "GAYS" were nicer to the hard working crew or something, so they were friendlier back to them?

I love Carnival, and I'm truly sorry you had a bad experience. Maybe Carnival is just not the right cruise line for you.

When I read a review or comments like those posted by christyslost that use the words everyone, everything and all so often it makes me think that the person was just out to have a bad time. It's hard to believe that ALL the food "sucked", all the crew where rude, you expected so many people to actually remember your name, everything there was to do was neither run right nor fair and the cruise director didn't even know how to carry a tune.

Let's see what you did enjoy. The drinks where good and plentiful. That may be a clue. The other passengers where friendly but they also complained the entire time so you felt comfortable with them. The head waiter accommodated your dining changes so you got to eat food that sucked at a different time or at a different table. The pursur wasn't able to make you have a good time but you appreciated their sympathy. And you are thinking about becoming gay you could have more fun.

I guess it rained the entire time so you couldn't even sit on the deck and watch the waves go by.

Christyslost, I would find your review helpful and maybe even sympathetic if you would be more specific about the problems you experienced. It is hard for me to believe that with the menus and activities available you could not find anything that lived up to your expectations.

I take my first cruise next week having read and appreciated the advice and recommendations of the people that post to this and other boards. I do not expect to have my every wish granted or every desire satisfied but I do expect to have a good time for a reasonable amount of money and effort on my part.

I can not recall a post telling people to go to the Purser Desk to change a seating assignment. it is standard to go to the dinning room, if the Matre de' isn't there, there will be a sign giving the hours he will be.
I have always had a great time on Carnival, it is our Cruise Line of Choice. With that said any cruise line we have been on has been great.

Gary, I can't recall any post on this forum stating that either.

It is Always posted on the first day in the Carnival Capers and in a handout at embarkation where a person should go to make dining room changes. It always states a time and place where you will find the Maitre'd to make the changes.

Frankly, it is hard to take this review serious when someone makes such outlandish remarks, and thinks they have to use colorful language to draw attention. This review reminds me of a child with a room full of toys and cries "I don't have anything to play with."
