on our Sept cruise we are flying and sailing on the same day.
We have always flown in a day early but this yr it just was not possible. I got us the earliest flight out at 6 am arriving at 10 am. Has anyone ever done this and had a problem? I am a bit concerned now. |
Which airport/port are you flying to, and from where?

Many factors here, where to and from, is it a direct flight or do you have to connect with a second flight? If you are going to Fla. or the Gulf Coast, Sept can be prime storm season. Weather of course is always the prime concern no matter when or where you are traveling, but this day and age I have less faith in the airlines than ever before, they seem to cancel more flights than I can remember. We used to fly the same day but got burned once when we got stuck in Chicago, now we always fly a day early. In any case I hope you got travel insurance that would help ease the pain some in the worse case scenario if something should happen beyond your control. Hope everything works out well and have a great cruise.

we are flying from raleigh/durham to tampa with a plane change in atlanta. the storms dont concern me as much as the planes (or the missing of one). we can always drive down, its like a 10 hr drive, long night and day before but we can do that.

I'd worry more about the long drive back AFTER the cruise! You will be beat!

Easier to get a good travel insurance policy than worry about all the what ifs. Driving or flying, you never know what might happen. Your flight time is fine by the cruiseline guidelines. If you do get insurance, be sure it has what they call "Trip interuption coverage". That's the part that pays for things like hotels and making a flight to catch a missed ship if needed.

You should be fine; you have lots of wiggle room. Just do like Neil and JC 49 suggest: get the insurance.

macmom, You should be fine. I would rather fly in the same day than do that drive again. I don't care to ever drive again on I-75. I thought I-95 was crazy, I-75 was worse. I would get the travel insurance as suggested. You should get to the pier just in time to board early. Are you using Carnival transfers?

not using the transfer we are planning on grabbing a taxi to get us to the pier. or would the transfer be better.
|
No, a taxi would probably better for an early arrival. Was just curious http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...icon_smile.gif
