I have a question about the soft drink card. Is it ONLY for soda? Does it cover juices at the bar? I enjoy a glass 1/2 Orange juice, 1/2 ginger ale. Would that be covered by the card?
What is the Fountain Fun Card?
We will offer to all guests the option to purchase a "Fountain Fun Card" which will allow them unlimited soft drinks for the duration of the cruise at a one time purchase price (including gratuities). The "Fountain Fun Card" can be purchased at the casino, lobby and pool bar onboard the ship. In all locations where beverage service is offered, guests may receive a glass of the soft drink of their choice - one glass will be served at a time and only to the guest whose name appears on the card. The card cannot be used through room service.
NOTE: A 15% gratuity will automatically be added on at the time of purchase of the Fountain Fun Card.
We get the card for our son when we cruise on Carnival. He likes the Carnival fruit punch, which they mix with OJ, pineapple juice, sour mix, and grenadine. Anyway he has always been able to get the punch with his card, so I think you will be okay with the ginger and OJ.

A cute smile from this nearly 50yo man, short, slightly over weight and balding doesn't get me as far as it used to But you are right, it all depends how you ask. I was just curios what the "rule" was. I did find the answer though. I am 100% sure that this is probably the correct answer. I am convinced that this might be etched in stone... per the 5/11/07 Capers from the Carnival Miracle on the page headed "Food & Drink Showcase" it says:
"Fountain Fun Card: Unlimited soft drink and juices for the entire cruise for one low price. Adult soda card - $5.50 per day +15% gratuity. Kids soda card - $4.00 per day +15% gratuity."
So, they call it a "soda card," in one place, but they do say "unlimited juices" in another place. I take this as a guarantee that they most likely would give me a 1/2 juice 1/2 soda beverage.
As you (solo) pointed out the price of the card includes tip. I had started adding on tips until I realized I had already "pre-paid" tips for the card drinks. But for your juice/ginger ale mix, having a buck in your hand may go a long way when asking for the drink on the card. Knowing they will get an extra tip out of it may make them agreeable. I found that the waiters in the show lounges and such were much less friendly and speedy when they found out you just wanted a soda on the card.
Personally I would not bother with the card. You have to drink 4 sodas a day to break even and with the free coffee/water/tea/juices etc AND the fact that I enjoy an evening drink, there were not many opportunities for me to consume 4 glasses of soda also. You might consider buying or bringing a couple of cans of gingerale and mixing it yourself with the juices from the buffet area.

I don't know if it will save me any money, might even cost more this way. It will be close though. I could NEVER spend $1.50 for a glass of soda, but if I had the card I would never think about the price. I'd console myself thinking that I could have had more if I wanted it. The card might be a lot of money for soda, but it's not a lot of money. I'm going to try it this trip.
I've never had the Soda Card so don't really know first hand...BUT...many cruisers complain that when they flash the CARD...the bartender seems to SLOW down and looks for paying customers...so yes...SMILE...and have a Great Cruise...

We always get the Soad Cards. We have never had poor service. In fact after the first day or so they have the soda ready when they see us coming.
We are non drinkers so the card is a good choice for us.
Non drinkers here also. And travel with teen granddaughters. The soda card works good for us as the kids tend to drink more soda on the ship. The last cruise we took, we also bought the cups to keep the soda cold. Never did use them as we would have had to run back to the room. So they are on the shelf in my garage along with all the many cups the kids have collected. But the soda cards are good.
October 13. coming soon. Can't wait to board the TRIUMPH.
