SONNYV has it correct. If you want to compare cruiselines you must consider first the size of the ship and then the itenerary to be able to compare Apples to Apples as he states. I have been on 3 different lines and all sizes of ships and can tell you that each has its plus and minus categories. If you are comparing the same size ship, I would always say, when it comes to CCL vs RCI that RCI is much better in overall impression and ambiance. If you want a young party crowd and something to do every hour and lots of drinking and activities.. Head to CCL but don't expect to be devoid of children knocking on your doors at all hours as they are not always monitored except in Camp Carnival. The food is probably a toss up on either and the same can be said for the enterainment (noteable exception is the Voyager class RCI ships and there is NO comparison to the ice shows and the Main Broadway). Expect a bit more class and a bit older crowd on RCI any time other than summer or Holidays. Carnival can be very dissapointing- I personally can't be paid to cruise with them anymore.. I took my wife on a Carnival first (I had already done many with friends and was dissapointed more times than not..Jubilee was probably the best and is no longer around - small ship with the best service ever- Triumph the only one beyond that I can say good things about) to get her feet wet with cruising and we have moved on as she has learned the differences as well. If you want service and a level of professionalism, RCI is your choice of those 2. For just a little more you can get on Celebrity who has 6 ships listed in the top 10! For good reason. RCI has a couple as well. Carnivals first ship comes in 32nd!! That should tell you something!
