The more I come here the more I think of changing my plans (Vacation in Virginia) for 2007 and cruising the Legend out of NYC in Oct 07, again.
To tell you the truth Virgini- has lost the (a) already and I still have over a year left to decide if i'm going to virgin-- or not. Oh well I may see some of you'll in Virgi--- or on the Legend. Have a safe and happy cruise all!!!!

What's in Virginia of interest to you? Is there family? If it's family, maybe they could go with you on your cruise Not that I dislike Virginia, but compared to a cruise--hmmm, cruise it is.

After discovering cruising I can not imagine doing any other sort of vacation. I used to be nervous about it and not that I have done it I kick myself for not doing it sooner. My husband wants to go to Alaska to visit his sister and I want to cruise there. I don't see any other way of seeing Alaska!

I had a great time on our Alaska cruise. But I don't think I would have wanted to be "stuck" in one location. Does the sister live in one of the Ports?

his sister lives in Anchorage. That is why I think the cruise would be perfect. It could end in Anchorage just stay over a couple days.

Hey Deege2424,
Remember that "Virginia is for Lovers" and that VA Beach is sooooo crowded. Ever been on that boardwalk? Or just go up to DC and fight the crowds at the Mall and Smithsonian...whew!

Sounds like a plan to me. Book your airfare and stay in Anchorage for a couple of days and visit. Or you could do the southbound cruise and fly in early and then cruise (They could drive you to Wittier and you wouldn't have to pay for transport.) And then depending on how you get along with the sis in law, you can use the cruise for a decompression.

I say Cruise ! I grew up in Virginia, and when I go back, a day of it and I got my fill. I do miss seeing the mountains and snow sometimes, but seeing and spending a vacation are 2 different things When I am in Virginia I can't wait to get back home. When I am on a cruise I don't want to leave

Cruise. For the money, it is the best vacation for your money. Just be sure to do your research. Make sure that you are going where you want to go, on the ship you want to be on. As there are so many choices these days, it is easy to get confused. At the very least, find an experienced cruise agent to help/guide you along. Happy cruising!!!
