I have recieved questions I can not answer.... but if you guys help me answer them... this chick may just fall in love with me and runaway with me.
here is the Hottie's email questions.... please ...if anyone has all the answers please post..
Thanks
MrOctober

I am going on a group cruise. I have a booking number that I registered on Carnival. Really doesnt tell me anything. Will I get "docs" since it is a group cruise and I didnt book it? I have already paid for it in full and that is why I got the conf. number.
Which leads me to...I registered at carnival, and it gives me the option to view/book excursions. When I go do that, for Cozumel there is only ONE excursion to pick from and then in Ocho Rios it does not list some of the excursions that I was interested in. I really really want to go on the zip line canopy tour that everyone raves about. It isn't listed. (It is in the general part of the carnival excursion site) Do you know why? Am I just too early???
someone asked my why do I want to stress about this? It is a vacation. Simple, I would rather stress now, learn all that I can, so that when I am on the ship, i wont stress then. You know what I mean?
Also, will I not know what room I am in until I get these docs??? Is there a chance of an u pgrade even though I am on a group cruise?

As far as her getting docs, yes, she will be getting documents.. everyone does. Now, depending on how the group was organized she may get them sent to her or the group leader will get them and need to distrbiute them. If the leader submitted the payment for everyone, then my guess is they will be getting the group's docs (like a TA). If the leader had everyone submit their own payment but reference a booking number, then she will get her own.

Tell her to go online and fill out her funpass info.. she still needs to do that even if in a group.

As far as excursions go, either she is too early for the full list of excursions to show up (it doesn't say when her cruise is) or I bet since she is in a large group, the list is limited to the excursions that can handle a large crowd. (Zip line is not) She needs to find out if they are supposed to all go together on excursions or book their own depending on each person's tastes. If she really wants to do the zipline canopy tour, and wants to book early, she can always book it outside of Carnival, we can get websites of recommended tour operators to do so.

And no, she won't know which cabin she is assigned until the doc arrive. As far as upgrade? It depends on how the group was set up. If the leader requested that everyone be on the same deck, then the chances are slim of an upgrade. If not, then its possible to get one.

I don't blame you at all. I am a control person and like to have my ducks in a row to feel more comfortable before I go off to the unknown. I had that problem with the tours I wanted was not on the Carnival choices so I typed in Mexico on Google and looked up the city I was visiting and it was loaded with pictures, tours, things to do from the tourism board. Just remember to pick one that will get you back to the ship in time. If you book on board and they don't make it back for some reason you are covered. Carnival will get you to the next port, but if you choose independant and for some reason they don't get you back before the ship sales it is up to you to get to the next port. $$$. Most big tours are the same ones Carnival uses and thats there bread and butter so they are good to get you back in time. But I think the Canopy tours bus you out of town to the jungle and never know if the bus breaks down or something on the trip back to the ship. Just something to keep in mind. You do your homework but don't book yet, you have plenty of time.

I have a booking number and have registered at Carnival web site and I know my cabin but only because I booked directly with Carnival Vaca Planner and selected the specific cabin I wanted. The web site does tell me what class cabin I have and a representative picture. If you know what class you are the deck plans can show you where these are. However you might also be able to call a vacation planner, use the number on the web, and ask what cabin you are assigned to, they might know.

And definitely do the fun pass on line. you will need your passport and air travel documents handy. Don't forget to print it when you finish.

You can see excursions even without a booking number. Try looking them up without signing into your cruise. you won't be able to prebook that way but might see more selection. The canopy tour sounds great and I wanted to Kayak, however my wife is not so eager for something so energetic. I'm hoping to find someone to go with me while their spouse goes shopping or something. Good luck. What ship were on?

If she is actually booked into a group, she will not be able to get any information from a Carnival Vacation Planner. Groups is a totally different department and they will only work with the agent who set it up, or the individual who set it up. Also, she would have to have the group number not just her individual booking number.

This post has made me curious...I am a group leader for a cruise in September. Everyone has paid their deposits and final payments are due in July. Approximately when will "documents" arrive? When are final room assignments made? We went with inside guarantees and do not care if we are floors or doors apart....but an upgrade here and there would be nice...

After the final payments are made and Carnival receives the final rooming list then they will start finalizing the group. Many times groups do get an upgrade. When you get your documents can vary. It could be 2-4 weeks prior.

MR OCTOBER:

Give her this info, it's part of my review on Carnival Victory which I was on last week:

ocho Rios, Jamaica

Write this down: trevorhudlin@hotmail.com That is the way you contact the best tour guide I've ever met. Thanks again to cruise-chat.com I found him. A single mom with 4 kids alone in a country where I read a lot of reviews saying "don't go by yourself" I was a little nervous about this port of call. He only charges $55 per adult and $42 per child for a scenic tour where you get a good view of the ship from the mountain, the fern gully/rain forest, Dunn's River Falls and Tubing. We didn't do the tubing part so it was $100 total less for the 5 of us. He took us to Dunn's River Falls first and walked us all the way in to the point where we meet our guides. I chose to walk along the side of the falls but all 4 of my kids walked up the falls IN the water. They have two guides and one photographer/videographer. Everyone joins hands and they have you walk up like a chain. I wasn't sure I liked this, but it seemed to work well. (They said they scrub the rocks every day so they don't get slimy where they tell you to walk) They took photos all the way up and a really good video that I bought. ($40 for the DVD & yes it works fine) I got tons of great photos from my vantage points as well. This took most of 2 hours. I dreaded getting through the craft area because I read all of those reviews too, I just kept my head down and said No thank you over & over. Only one got nasty towards me because I didn't miss a beat or even slow down. And one stopped my 8 year old daughter and put a bracelet on her wrist. He said he didn't want money, just wanted us to spread the word about him. Of course he asked if I had a donation to give him and I said nope he took the bracelet right off of her arm. Off we went haha! I had warned my kids of this before we went through and told them not to stop for anything. I also told them not to give their names because I read about how they start carving your name into stuff so you feel obligated to buy them.

Next we went up the mountain to look down on the ships and it was a beautiful view, and then we headed to the fern gully. He gave such wonderful information and he quizzed my daughter (who he let sit in the front seat next to him because this tour was just the 5 of us too) throughout the tour. As you enter the rain forest/fern gully be prepared to see some obscene "statues" carved out of wood. My 12 & 15 year old caught sight of them and their giggles made it really hard for me not to laugh. Just make sure if you have little ones you remember to have them close their eyes as you enter. Once we were out of the fern gully he pulled over to a roadside stand and had a guy chop up some sugar cane & cocoanuts for us. He showed the kids how to get the sweet stuff out of the cane & then let them drink cocoanut water and eat fresh cocoanut. Pretty neat of him to do that.

Then we went back down, he showed us around some middle class neighborhoods, stopped at a few points of interest and wound up at TajMahal where I wanted to do some shopping. He actually WAITED for us for over an hour while we shopped and my daughter got half of her hair braided. My 15 year old learned that you can drink at 18 in Jamaica so he scammed a few samples of liquor while her hair we getting done. Nothing to freak out over, but if you don't want your teen to drink make sure he/she doesn't go off alone even in that secure little complex. My teen was also offered pot 4 different times but politely declined and they left him alone. I was able to keep an eye on him the whole time we were in the braid shack because the shack is in the middle and all of the shops face it.

Like I said, this was the best port of our whole trip. And to see my 4 kids get along, laugh and work hard TOGETHER getting up those falls was PRICELESS. I never worried about their safety (OR my own) the entire time we were in Jamaica. If you book with Trevor learn this and see what he has to say: (I'm spelling phonetically because I have no clue!!) rain-a-fall n dirt-i-tuff It's a proverb he taught my 8 yr old that means the rain is falling and the Earth is tough. A woman who works the 1 hour photo at our WalMart is Jamaican (she told us when she saw Ashlynn's braids) and when Ashlynn told her the proverb she was impressed

PS Trevor's van could have held 10-15 people, and if she needs more room than that I'm sure he has friends
