Of course!
You will encounter some crew who don't have time to stop and chat with the passengers - they have a job to do after all. This is most common when you see crew who are part of the deck department or doing maintenance - the sailors in other words. You may see them painting, or fixing a hatch or some other thing. In those cases I leave them alone since they need to get the task done since they no doubt have many other jobs still on their list.
But generally the officers, hotel staff, and others who are allowed access to the passenger areas are quite cordial. I've made many friends from among the bartenders and waiters and others.
