Depending on how long the cruise is I think about 100 a day. I took about 800 on my 7 day cruise on 10-21. Put 200 on sign and sail(got a check for $1.28 from what was left over) and kept 100 at portdays. the other 100 put for the casino. On my europe trip next year which is 12 days going up it to 200 a day since the exchange rate. Hopefully can take about 5,000. Also it is best to have a cash account with your sign and sail. I have done credit cards on first two and it did not work as good as the cash account.

The amount of money you need to bring will depend totally on your drinking and spending habits. It also depends on what your plans are in the ports to be visited. Take the $400 cash, but try and have a credit card back up in case you run short. Might want to stick back an extra 40 for ground transportation once the ship gets back in port.

shots where 4 bucks last time i went .only had 8 the whole cruise but i havent drank in 20 years so i was pretty hammered you might say if you look at my pics.jaggermister. i forgot how much the foofoo drink s where, i but every thing on sign and sail with my c/ card . you can get a print out before you get off the boat , mine was 200 bucks . i got photos, gift shop, bingo cards etc. it was fun just give them your s/s card no need to bring lots of cash with you they do have a safe in your room in case you didnt know for valueables.use it,i put all my stuff in it incl perscribtions etc.and lock your luggage too every time you leave the room , when the people clean your room i noticed , they where working 3 or 4 rooms at a time , so your doors open and anyone to pop in and take something. p/s your going to love the LIFEBOAT DRILL!

On my last Carnival Cruise, Victory 2004, I got hammered on the plane on the way down and continued when I boarded. Slept right thru the "muster drill". I really hated that I missed that. LOL

Ok, as I am sure some of you know, I have been posting on different topics in this forum about my cruise coming up. Cash, credit cards, sail n sign etc... i am confused...the casino, can you use the sail n sign or do you need to use your cash.....

There are excursions I want to go on but I have read post that say, wait till you get to the ports, you will find things you want.. I am wondering, for a first time cruiser, should I go ahead and book some excursions so I know what is coming and wait to wing it on my 2nd cruise?

Ready to go, I think

Hey Wrain,

Your Sail & Sign onboard account must be secured with a Credit Card or Cash Deposit. It is for all spending on board the ship.

The Casino does take cash, and quiet frequently from me But you can get chips and tokens or cash there and charge it to your S & S account, there is a 3% fee.

I like many others use the $100 a day rule, I take $100 in cash/TC for each day. I secure my account with a credit card. I keep my Casino money seperate from that.

You do have the auto tips on your account, and if you drink it can add up. I almost always have money left and can pay down the account with it.

For Montego Bay, definetly take a shore excursion according to what I have heard.

Grand Cayman has great excursions, including Stingray City, and many others. It is pretty safe to walk around there without hassle.

Cozumel can easily be done by a first timer without an excursion. Unless you want to dive or snorkel offshore. You can get a taxi downtown for shopping, or to one of the beaches. I am now reccomending Paradise Beach, and they have an Offshore snorkel trip that leaves from there for $35 to Palancar Reef all equipment included. It leaves at 11:30 EST or 12:30 CST.

Hope this helps and does not add to your confusion. You will have a wonderful time!

Best wishes for a Fantastic Cruise
