How about the crew while the Splendor is down. Do they receive any pay. I would think any lost of income would hurt them more than the lost hurt Carnival.
Hi Barb Dillon, welcome to Cruise-Chat! I am so very glad to hear a positive perspective. I am happy that you received a full refund and a free cruise. I know your vacation was NOT what it should have been, but I am so very glad that you made the best of the situation.
Gary, I doubt the crew will receive any pay, unless they are allowed to do some type of work on the ship, like paint, clean, etc. They may get assigned to another ship for the interim, but they probably had to go home.
Well I guess that some of them will get to see a very nice port. I would hope that Carnival would help out with transportation if they have to go home.

Wait staff and cabin stewards will be the easiest to "place" through out the fleet. They will simply replace waiters and cabin stewards that are rotating off ships for vacation. And when they rotate back on, they will probably be send to the Splendor Jan cruise....
The dancers usually work as a "crew", so I would think that they are probably going to be the ones that would be the hardest to "place".

Most excellent! On any given week there are crew going on vacation on each ship. They may also slow down new hires to get everyone placed.

I really have not hear anyone really complaining . I really expected to hear a number of them. It speaks well of Carnival.
I read the Spam was not served to the crew either from someone on the ship. I can see why the repairs would take longer than what one would normally expect as they need to fix what caused this. It doesn't seem normal for a single generator out of six to shut down a ship. I can imagine lots of re-wiring to be done. I am amazed they got the EVAC toilet system working. They sure did an awesome job with this given what they were facing. I also give Kudos to Carnival for going a step above what is typical in compensation for such an event.

This is the most informative and educational article concerning this event that I have read! And I try to read them all. I am proud to have you as my leader, and sometimes boss man.
