formality

hi,my partner and i have just booked a 10 day cruise to the caribean next november sailing from newyork.we have cruised with RCL before and had a fab time.we are wondering if we have booked a good cruise,because although we are in our early 40,s we hope it is not overly formal,e.g. dressing up in tuxedos ect. for all evening meals.we are travelling on the constallation.any comments would be welcome thanks.

I think you'll like Celebrity Cruises. We've always had a neat time cruising with them. Most nights are "smart casual" and you'll have two formal nights. Here is a link to their dress code.

It's true that Celebrity is more formal than Royal Caribbean, yet not overly so. While you might find some gentlemen in tuxedos on a 10-nighter from NYC on formal night, it's not a requirement. Note that you'll have to be at least "smart casual and above" in the show lounges every evening -- but that's not a big deal, IMO.

Enjoy your first Celebrity cruise. If you're like me, it won't be your last.
