Sailing on the Celebrity Solstice soon but want to know if the drink packages are worth it. I don't really drink much, mostly water and some juices and maybe a daily coffee drink. Would it be worth it or should I just go a la carte?

Thanks.

Welcome to Cruise Chat.
It sounds like you would be better doing pay as you go.

I looked at the prices on the cruise we just took, particularly the beer package. The price was about equivalent to ordering six beer a day, so it wasn't worth it.

Hi We are going on the Celebrity Century next week and we have also been looking at drinks packages. The cruise line are trying to push their all inclusive package of $44.85 per day per guest so for the two of us it would be for the 12 nights $1076.40 which seems really expensive.. just for drinks. We are in the same position as you...is it worth it? I guess if you stay on the boat every day and take full advantage it maybe.. but its an awful lot of drinks to have for 44.85 per person. Are no drinks supplied at all on the cruise? I would expect tea and coffee at breakfast but do you not get anything else? Look forward to hearing from all you experienced cruisers.

Paul and Tracey,

Welcome to cruise-chat.

You'll always find coffee and tea available somewhere on the ship 24 hours a day, and when the buffet is open for whatever meal you'll be able to swing by and get juice, milk, iced tea, lemonade, whatever beverages they happen to be serving at that meal. Given the buffet seems to be open more than it is closed you can usually find something to drink without paying for it.

I personally think Celebrity is being quite heavy handed in their prices for these packages. Pay as you go is probably the best choice.

Thanks everyone for your great comments. I certainly believe that going without the drink packages is the way to go, especially if I don't really dring much anyway and as long as the buffet is mostly opened, we could go that route. Worst case scenario, we'll probably buy a drink or two the most per day but still not enough to warrant the drink package price.
