I wonder if Celebrity is just cracking down only on the liquor attempted to be smuggled aboard during embarkation?

Or are they also real strict with liquor purchased at the ports of call?

I heard in the past it was rather easy to walk past the "Liquor Check-in tables" that are located just past the X-Ray machines, while reboarding the ship in the port of call. All the while carrying a bottle or two inside your back pack. Has that changed?

It seems they were not just checking for Booze but other items like weapons or explosive items ?

Assuming Celebrity is being as strict as sister brand RCI, this is not true anymore. Last week we got some bottles of water which we didn't use while on a tour in Alaska. I brought them back to the Rhapsody Of The Seas in a shopping bag. As soon as my bag exited the x-ray machine a security officer pulled it aside and inspected the bottles to ensure they weren't carrying booze.

Maybe the higher-ups from Celebrity have been monitoring this web site and reading all my posts ! Sorry if I ruined it for everyone else.

I wouldn't a bit be surprised if the lines monitored Cruise Chat, but doubt it's to learn about the latest liquor smuggling technique.

When one considers the number of passengers passing through their check points, it would be a miracle if they didn't stumble on all sorts of innovative ploys. How about a water bottle of Scotch strapped to someone's belly? It would be great fun to see how they handled that ;-)

That's pretty sad to think someone could be that desparate (and cheap), to go to that extreme. Makes one wonder what other extremes a person like that would do.

I think this thread has run it's course and the original question has been answered. So we will now close this thread.
