Hello All !

I am back, boo hoo...just kidding. We had a great time and LOVE the Century. Old time cruising feel, really beautiful ship, kept very clean, crew is one of the best ever ! Just a few notes, will do a full review very soon. The dining on this ship was the best ever ! Our waiter Victor was AMAZING ! His assistant Jackson was very quiet, but good. Ate at Murano one night, well worth the price. But the dining room food was Very, Very Good, I never ordered anything but Victor's suggestions, and he never failed. The weather was cool, but warmer than Michigan ! No rain, also a big plus. Our Concierge class room was small, but had some very big pluses (sp?) the balcony was bigger than a standard balcony, full size table for dining, nothing better ! Balcony door open every night !! Our room stewards were wonderful, polite, always smiling ! Being on Celebrity was very different from Royal Caribbean, but in a good way for us. Low key, not alot going on, but very classy. No one yelling at me to yell at them to prove I was having a good time. The non-smoking policy was very much appreciated, never smelt smoke once ! The Casino was smoke free ! Very enjoyable, plus I had a little luck too ! Missed the Caribbean Stud table, no more, but Roulette was fun and profitable. Our stops were Key West, and I just visited with my Darling Brother who lives there for the last 10 years, and Grand Cayman where we had a Fantastic experience with "Stingray Sailing!" Only 24 passengers on a small Catamaran, great inter-action with the crew, very family feel, and terrific time with the Sting Rays, "Isabelle" the Stingray was pregnant and very friendly, let everyone hold her, kiss her, and she had a big crush on our Guide Mark, adorable. The embarkation was very smooth, the disembarking was even better, just walked right off the ship, not one line, our bags came on a conveyor belt and took about twenty minutes, but we were at the airport before 9am, in plenty time for a 10:20am flight, I know, I know cut it close, but we landed in Detroit at 1:12pm ! Any questions, happy to answer ! Thanks to everyone for their suggestions and tips, helped make a very enjoyable cruise, honeymoon and 50th Birthday Celebration !! http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...on_biggrin.gif

I love Century too. We went on two short b2b cruises on her in Feb. of last year. We have booked a TA on Century from Barcelona to Miami, for Oct. of this year, so will aboard for along stretch and lots of sea days. But since both Princess and Celebrity have great enrichment lectures on sea days, and I enjoy trivia and lots of reading onboard, sea days are fine with me. I also love the spa cafe as an alternative to breakfast and lunch in the main dinng room or the buffet. Of course, after a healthy, low calorie breakfast, I have been known to cut through Cova Cafe and eat a delicious chocolate croissant.

One of the things I like most about Celebrity is no constant announcements yelling "Come on down to play Bingo, Come on down to the Art Auction!" Etc. I believe people know how to read the daily bulletins.

I really appreciated that too !

LOL, thanks Penny, DH has been on a couple cruises, we will definitely cruise together again. The food was so very good ! Ya just can't beat the value ! Also it turns out he is quite the "star," he ended up on stage with a comedian and was noticed and congratulated for the rest of the cruise.

QOC,
I have been waiting and hoping you had a fantastic time. I am so glad you loved the Century like we do. She is a beautiful ship and I like the way you stated it, "Old time cruising feeling". Your back so that means it is my turn LOL !! I am hoping the Mercury brings back the same feeling we had on her sister ship the Galaxy, in 98 it was awesome. Can't wait to hear more. We leave on Friday out of Charleston, SC http://bestsmileys.com/happy/7.gif

Everrrrrrything you told me about Celebrity was so true. I agree this ship is not for everyone, but perfect for me. The decor was subdued, the Martini bar was really neat, I did feel like I was on a "retro" cruise ship. Working on my full review, but if your interested a review of our Stingray Sailing adventure is here.

Only 3 more days janfred http://bestsmileys.com/happy/7.gif Would love to be going with you. We had a tease of nice weather this weekend, but of course, it didn't last. Back to the 20s and 30s-yuck!

Have a marvelous time and let us know how you liked the ship when you return. It always seems the cruise goes much faster than the wait for the cruise. http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...icon_frown.gif

QOC, thanks for the update. Only a couple more days until we are on the Century. Glad you had a great time. We booked the Cayman in the nutshell for the sting rays. We leave this Sat. for a couple of days if Fl. before the cruise.
