Room and Vibration

Ok, my 3 friends and I are taking the Mercury Wine Cruise in April. We delayed and the only rooms left (in the cheap seat section) are the next to the last ones in the stern. If we were any further back, we would be on the propeller. I have been reading about the vibration, which is the first thing everyone says to us when we tell them where our rooms are (usually with sound effects, something like rumm, rumm, rumm, or something to that nature). So what should we really expect? Three of us have never been on a big cruise ship before so are newbies. Any advice is welcomed.

Best advice first...put your vacation expectations in line with what the cabin cost was and then everything else on board will be a great perk! Since it is a wine cruise, overindulge a bit and you won't notice a thing!

The Mercury is one of the worst ships for Stern vibrations. I remember sitting in the dining room in that area and having the water slosh out of the glass. This is particularly bad when they use the thrusters.

Thanks so much for your responses. We contacted the travel agent and for $10 more we could go up to the Plaza level and be more in the center of the ship. So that is what we have done. Now we are kind of by the grand staircase, but we will just take our chances. We are really looking forward to it.
