this may be a ridiculous question but -- i've read through the brochure and web site and don't see anything that addresses the question: does celebrity offer a kids' menu in the main dining room?? we want to take the kids there for the experience, (and we don't want to eat pizza every night!) but i know right now my son will not care for the fancy menu!! any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

bring the kids! Celebrity will accommodate them in every way possible. In fact, the waiters almost seem to thrive on the challenge, and love their innocence. Even though the children are not given a special menu, they'll be offered grilled cheese sandwiches, pizza, mac&cheese, chicken noddle soup, etc. Or they'll be offered an adult entree they can just try, with no repercussions if they take a bite and change their minds.

In fact, while my wife and I were at the specialty restaurant one evening, my kids (7/11) even had friends over at "their" table for the evening. Waiters and kids alike all had a grand ole time playing grown up. Wow.

If all else fails, they'll have the soup appetizer and ice cream for dessert. And you can hit the buffet on the way back to the room, or have them order room service (always a hit!) before they turn in the for the night.

In the end, they'll survive just fine and love being treated like an adult in the dining room.

The dining room is also a great place to teach them some basic table manners.

Celebrity does have a kid's menu. Go here to see more about it. On our first Celebrity cruise in 1996, our son was 20 months old. The waiter catered to him and would carry him around the dining room to show him off to the other staffers. We also found that Jacob liked some of the regular menu items, such as the conch fritters and I think they had a lobster bisque that he liked.

Glad to help! Depending on their age, the kids will also enjoy special treats like chocolate milk during dinner, or trying a smidgen of escarcot or frogs legs for the first time! It's not that they actually eat much of the exotic stuff, but just to say they've tried it (even if just the smallest of bites) gives them valuable bragging rights to their fiends and family, and opens up a entire new world of culinary delights to which they are now more receptive.

Oh, and my daughter reminds me now of her first experience with creamed corn soup on the ship... yum!
