Dave,
We were in Aqua Class on the Solstice and assigned to eating in Blu. The whole Spa Healthy eating fare etc in Blu, but I agree with you, we liked the Main Dinning room (give me the rich sauces and butter etc !!) I hope you had a chance to eat in the Tuscany Grill and Murano's they were both fabulous !! I see Penny drooling as I type (not long now)!
Drooling really doesn't describe it I also keep getting these incredible offers in the mail. If I did them all, I'd be gone for the next 5 months. That REALLY sounds like heaven to me!
What a day. Traffic was murder all over the place as the locals all headed out for the weekend. We were supposed to get to our hotel at 2pm but just now got here (4pm local time). Went to Salisbury and Stonehenge and I am too beat to do anything in London right now. I may just eat in one of the hotel restaurants. They do have new iMac computers in each room with free wi-fi. That is what I am using right now. Feels just like home!
Our dinners on the ship were arranged so we didn't get to go to the other restaurants. Just Blu last night and the main dining room the first night.
I am exceedingly impressed with this class of ship. So large yet intimate at the same time. Every time I turned a corner I found something new. If you don't mind the extra fees you could spend a week on this ship and never have dinner in the same place. Get this...I decided to eat breakfast in the buffet this morning and I saw something I've never seen in a cruise ship breakfast buffet...eggs benedict. Individual servings were prepared in square bowls. And the eggs were poached perfectly - still soft. The ice cream bar is open too, for those who want ice cream with their eggs.
The gelato bar was good too.
I am locked into the Carnival cruise for next July but I am going to start looking at a cruise on either Solstice or Equinox within the next year too.
Dave, you need to try Princess, they have Eggs Benedict on their buffets. I've not eaten in the diningroom on a Princess ship yet for breakfast or lunch, have never felt the need to because the buffets are great!
It has been 8 years since our last Princess cruise. At the time they didn't have eggs benedict in the buffet. Perhaps Celebrity took a queue from them.
I just prefer to eat breakfast in the dining room because of the service, not having to search for a seat, and also because it is more relaxing to me. It was easier to use the buffet on the Equinox because we were nowhere near full. They only had one dinner seating for both nights. I walked off the ship this morning all by myself.
I saw eggs benedict in the lido buffet on Prinsendam a few weeks ago. Four different kinds...versus just the standard one in the dining room. I'm not one for lines so I didn't try it, though. I don't know if this is something HAL is doing fleetwide.
Dave, thank you for sharing your reports on Celebrity Equinox. Wishing you safe travels home.
