WOW Dave this is great information and I need to think about this. I will read that article twice! With 2 coming up on Celebrity and I am going to try Free Style first on NCL Oct 4th. I wonder what we will like. I guess we are lucky to have all this to think about. Thanks for the information http://bestsmileys.com/thumbs/7.gif

If you think about it - this is the natural evolution of the traditional dining concept and the freestyle concept - with the help of stateroom reservation interface - this should become a highly effective way to enjoy shipboard life!! An idea whose time has come! However, I believe this will have some effect on the formal nites!http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...icon_frown.gif

A lot of new cruisers - and some experienced ones - don't realize that the assigned seatings concept was born out of necessity owing to limited space on ships. It is quickly becoming a vestige of the past, although many of us embraced it early and cling to it for traditions sake, and of course for the usually jovial times we have at an assigned table. For us I think I can say we prefer assigned, but it would depend on the itinerary. There are instances when I'd prefer flexible dining. Even now, we usually eat dinner at least once in an alternate venue - usually the buffet dinner.

Thanks again Dave, keeping us up on the news. We have an upcoming cruise booked on the Century, since we are sailing for the first as a couple, this might be a great time to try this. I was kinda picturing my DH looking(grazing) around the ship waiting for me to get ready for dinner each evening http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo.../icon_wink.gif

After a try at RCI's My Time Dining, we ended up just the four of us each night. My DH is a great talker and I think we would like to dine with others at late dining. I do miss meeting new folks, but this time it was good for the four of us.
