Beverage Packages

Hi. My husband & I are first time cruisers and scheduled to do a Panama Cruise at the end of September. Picking the cruise was the easy part! Now we are being bombarded with shore excursions and things like beverage packages. We are very confused as to the beverage packages. It seems to be very expensive to purchase a wine or spirits package and if you purchase the pop package it is only coke products. Perhaps it is better to pay as you go unless you are a heavy drinker?

Are you on the Mercury leaving San Diego Oct 1?
We are on that cruise.
We don't purchase the beverage package because it is cheaper to pay as you go if you only have a couple of drinks a day. And you can bring two bottles of wine on board with you to enjoy in your stateroom, just remember to bring a corkscrew if needed.

Hi Jill. No, we are scheduled on the Infinity out of Seattle at the end of Sept. Thanks for your help - we aren't big drinkers and it seemed kind of expensive to have to buy a pkg. Think we'll take your advice and pays as we go.
