We are a family of 17 who are taking our first cruise on the Celebrity Solstice in 2 weeks time! Yippee! We would like to sit together during dinner times and would like to try a number of the specialty restaurants. Can I as group leader reserve our table at specialty restaurants on the cruise now ahead of departure?

Many thanks for any advice,
Jackie

I know your exited, wow how fun to be going with 17 family members. Can you tell me what ship you are going on? I always make my specialty restaurant early because the times fill fast. I do it online but if you are working with a TA have them do it now for you. Reason I asked what ship is some have more than one.

Yes, we are sooooo excited. We will be on the Solstice. Thanks for the advice, I didnt know I could book the restaurants online, will definitely try that. My TA is Expedia, but frankly have found their service seriously UNDER-whelming so am going to try and do this myself.

Thanks!

Hello adventurequeen, welcome to Cruise-Chat! You can sit together during dinner, however it would be a group of tables like a round table for 10 and a round table for 8. That can be arranged prior to your sail date through your TA - or calling the cruise line if you booked directly with them. I strongly suggest the you go to the dining room and find your tables when you board the ship. You will be able to make changes if you did to. There will be some dining staff assisting people.

Yes, you can reserve tables at specialty restaurant. Remember, there is an age restriction. Children under the age of 13 are not suppose to be in the specialty restaurant. When you book, you can only book for 3 couples - so, 3 people in your group will have to make the reservations. You'll need the booking number of each guest on the reservation. Again, there won't be a table large enough for 17 people. This was the information I got from the diamond plus desk this morning. You'll find that the cruise line will do their best to accommodate you. Let us know what you find out.

Hi Sonny, sadly I am not doing very well with the reservations at the moment. The Celebrity website is down and I wasnt able to book online. I called them up and was put through the Specialty Restaurants Desk. However, it seems Celebrity has a new policy as of August 2008 that they cannot book for more than 6 people at a time. So even though I have the reservation numbers for everyone, the lady would not take reservations for more than 6. I asked if I had to call back and pretend to be someone else from my group to book for a second 6 persons, and she couldn't answer me!

Even just to get for 6 people it was a disaster. Our first choice specialty restaurant (Murano) had NO seats for 6 people at between 6pm to 9.30pm for all 3 nights that we wanted. It was really difficult to get a table for 6 for our 2nd and 3rd choices and even then we didn't get our preferred times. I am truly unhappy that it has been this difficult. I was on the phone for 1.5 hours with them and didn't get very far....

I tried to explain that you can only book for 3 couples. Two other people would have to book tables also. The trick is to get all the tables together. I know it's difficult to book large groups. Did you check on the dining room seating?
