This is our first cruise ever. Any suggestions for excursions, or are we better off just exploring by ourselves? We've traveled internationally before but never via cruiseship or in the Caribbean.

Any other tips on cruises in general would be much appreciated. We're already booked and have a deluxe oceanview with veranda cabin.

What's the date? The 12/10 has been cancelled due to mechanical problems with the ship. They plan to limp back to the states TA from Europe and go to drydock.

I am going on the Dec 17th cruise. I sure hope they get the ship fixed in time. We would not be happy since we are flying all the way from Seattle to Miami.

We are one of the cruisers who were cancelled on the 12/10 sailing. Still not certain how future cruise compensation will work out. Has anyone had this experience before? Obviously we are disappointed. Wish you a wonderful and safe cruise!

Bob, this has happened before; the problem lies with the Azipod propulsion system, and Celebrity has sued the manufacturer of that system precisely because of this kind of problem. I understand that there is some compensation in order for those of you on the cancelled cruise; contact your travel agent (or if you didn't use one, contact Celebrity) for details.

I've been on 2 cruises - on the 1st we booked excursions and on the 2nd (just last week), having learned better, we did not. I don't recommend excursions - overpriced, too short, too much waiting, not able to experience the real port. Do some research using the CruisePortChat site and you'll find much better ways to experience the port. Or get off the ship, talk to a local working in a store or restaurant and ask them. They'll tell you wear to go and the best way to get there. Have fun!

Thank you Karen, We will have to call Celebrity and see what type of compensation they will be offering. We had a Sky Suite on the 12/10 cruise and feel it is only fair to receive one in a future cruise for the same rate. Much appreciated.

I would love to hear more about your cruise and the ship. We have rebooked for the 2/11 cruise. Please fill me in on the details if you would be so kind. Our first trip with Celebrity and to the Caribbean. Enjoy!
