The wife and I are taking our first cruise 6/18 on the Sun Princess (35th wedding anniversary).

The game place is to fly in Saturday (noonish) get a room and browse around Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning prior to boarding the ship.

The questions are:

How do you get from the airport?

Decent place to stay downtown without needing a bank loan...lol I'd like to stay under $150 bucks.

How do you get to the ship from the hotel?

And the last question is....is there anything else I should keep in mind???

There are various shuttle companies that can take you into town from the airport; it's quite a haul. Most of the downtown hotels are fairly expensive but you can find some decent accommodations and value at Summerfield Suites, or some of the Choice hotels family (Comfort/Quality). Summerfield was where we stayed; they have a free shuttle to the port area and to downtown, and are within walking distance to several restaurants. (You can also get the shuttle to a restaurant, but it may be a bit of a wait if others want to use it.) It's also on a city bus route. Right by I-5 but well insulated so you don't get much road noise. Not sure what the price is now; about 6 years ago it was $110 a night for a 2-room suite, including free continental breakfast.

We live in Washington State and travel to Seattle quite often for weekend getaways. By June 18th, the hotels will likely have gone to summer rates and you may have a difficult time finding an affordable rate. Hotels that are close to the cruise ship terminal are the Marriott, Inn at the Market, and Edgewater. You may want to check them for rates. In the downtown area--which is only a few blocks from the pier--you have all of your major chain hotels. Hilton, Sheraton, Hyatt, Holiday Inn, Westin, etc. You may be able to get a good rate on one of these between now and when you travel. Coast hotels also has several older properties which have been remodeled and are in the downtown area.

If you end up getting a rental car and staying farther out, the Courtyard Southcenter and the Courtyard SeaTac are both decent.
