We are cruising on Radiance of the Seas in December and have booked the Embassy Suites Convention Center in Tampa. It is within sight of the port but was wondering whether anyone has stayed here. There is a nice and large Marriott right on the water but since we normally like Embassy Suites, we chose this. There are mixed reviews on both hotels on Trip Advisor so any help would be appreciated.

Also, if anyone has cruised out of Tampa, would you pay to park at the port or pay to leave your car at the hotel with their "cruise package" and take the shuttle over? This is our first time cruising out of Tampa.

You would need to compare the cost of each. Then take into consideration your time of waiting on shuttles to go back to hotel, or the convenience of walking right to your car.

It looks like a really short drive, maybe less than a mile, and not complicated from the looks on Google maps. Where do you go to find out the parking charge at the port? Looks like a parking deck right across the street. I am leaning by the luxury of a nice leisure walk to the vehicle vs. the shuttle.

The information I have shows parking is $12 a day (subject to change).

Looks like it is $14 a day now. Here is a link to a page with many or most of the ports listed.

Ok, done a little poking around and for a 4 night cruise, it will be the same price to park at the hotel or the port. So, I think I will park at the port. The room rate is $56 more for the cruise package and that entitles you to 14 days parking. At $14 per day at the port, that equals the same $56!! If your cruise was longer, then definitely the cruise package at the hotel would be cheaper.

It can pay to do the math, and the cruise length is a factor.

We recently went out of Mobile and stayed overnight pre-cruise at a place with a "cruise and park" special. It was the better deal than port parking only because it was a 7-night cruise.
