Departing from Rome... need a hotel and transportation.

Hi everyone!
We are taking a mediterranean cruise in June that leaves from Rome. We are ariving in Rome the day before our cruise departs. We are looking for recommendations for hotel for that night preferably in the center of rome near everything. Since we don't have to be at the port until 6 pm, we would like a hotel that will hold our luggage after we check out for a few hours so we could do more sightseeing. We also have to find a way from our hotel to the port. Which transportation is best from the center of rome to the port?

You can go by train (the cheapeast way; and very fast too). But it is naturally easier to drive by shuttle. There is a Rome Shuttle Lomousine Service from Rome to the port Civitavecchia for about € 110 / $ 132 for 4 people with luggages; 6 people with Mercedes Van € 145 / $174. Or go to venere.com and they list a whole bunch of hotels that are reasonable all over rome. We're going on the same cruise and will stay at a hotel close to the train station as we're planning to take the train to civitavecchia. Its cheaper. See you there.
