It sounds like a great way to spend 24 hours in Miami to me. I really think you'll like the Biscayne Bay area. It's not that far from the port, but I'd probably get a car anyway, just for sightseeing purposes. Did you check with the Marriott to see if they have shuttle service? I'm pretty sure they would have it from MIA to the hotel, but not sure from the hotel to the port. However, with the amount of cruise passengers that run through Miami, I would be surprised if they didn't. Have a great trip!
