24 hours in Miami - What to do?

We will have about 24 hours in Miami - (daughter is 15) Is it worth going to South Beach? Is there any other nice areas? Looking for a good sea food dinner? (We are beach and shopping people). What is the best way to get around? How safe is Miami?

If you don't mind a little drive, I'd say you need to eat at the Captain's Tavern. It is near the Dadeland mall in Kendall. Probably the best seafood in Miami.

South Beach - if a little nudity doesn't offend you (topless is allowed), South Beach is okay. Obviously it is quite touristy.

Miami is a big city and with it comes big city crime. If you don't venture off the beaten path you will be okay. The bus service is extensive but I'd stick with taxis myself.

Crandon Park Beach in Key Biscayne is one of the top 10 beaches in the nation. We first found it last year, and wish we would have known about long before. It's not far south of the port. For more information click HERE

There are lots of great restaurants in Miami, try doing a google search. You may also want to check out the Miami Seaquarium, it's on the Rickenbacker Causeway. They're website is www.miamiseaquarium.com South Beach is a nice area, but I'd really stick to visiting during the day. Hope this helps!!

You bring back memories for me. I lived in Miami in the 1960's and Crandon Park was my favorite place to go.
