We are trying to make our plans for our October cruise. Our plane arrives in Orlando at 2 the day before the cruise. We really dont want to head to the hotel and be stuck there until the next day to catch the shuttle so we have decide to rent a car.
Anyway we kinda would enjoy doing SOMETHING, ANYTHING the night before the cruise...any suggestions? we have booked a hotel in orlando but we can cancel that if there is something we want to do at port canaveral.
Well if you book a hotel in Cocoa Beach (near the port) you could do the NASA tour. They also have a decent public beach there.
If that's not your thing, there is plenty to do in Orlando. Besides Disney, Sea World, Universal Studios et al... you can also go to City Walk area near Universal Studios... you'll find The Hard Rock cafe, Planet Hollywood (I think), you can see the Blue man group there, there is a Margaritaville, NBA City.. etc... Or you could go hang out at Disney's equivalent - Downtown Disney....
If you can't find something to do in Orlando for a day/night, you didn't put any kind of effort into it.
You could also go to Silver Springs. Ocala has the Big Daddy Don Garlitz race museum-really a lot larger on the inside than it looks from I75. They're some beautiful horse farms there, too. There are some great Citrus Groves, too. You could go to Daytona Beach, kind of a long drive, but doable. Cocoa Beach is where I learned to surf (ok, ride the ripples). I think Jonathon Dickinson State Park is near by, too. Ice cold spring water pools there. Silver Springs is ice cold, too. They have water slides besides the glass bottom boats there. I think it's extra to get into the water park area. Oh, there are plenty of golf courses around, too. Just a few more suggestions.
ok I now have a plan. We have cancelled the hotel in Orlando and are staying at port Canaveral... Country Inns and suites.
After searching the internet I have found a little community theatre in Titusville that is putting on a play on that friday night. We will enjoy that. Counting down the days...
That sounds like a great plan. Disney is Disney, everyone should experience it at least once, but it is huge and expensive. Sea World is there as well as Universal Studios. Check into Cypress Gardens or Silver Springs, can't remember how far it is, but shouldn't be more than 1 1/2 hours away, if you're going to spend a couple of days there.
I grew up in Tampa, went to disney several time, silver springs, sea world all of those wonderful places when I was young and they were young. Next time the next generation of cruisers will enjoy them....
