Red Hook - how to get to?

Hi all

It looks like Carnival (and Princess) will be making use of the Red Hook port in Brooklyn for their upcoming NYC season.

I was originally happy that my upper west side hotel would be relatively close to the port, but not so anymore.

I'm thinking it's going to be a pretty lonnng and expensive cab ride there. I'm wondering how long this might take and if anyone can estimate the cost?

I doubt Princess will have a transfer I could use for a hotel I didn't book through them?

As a resident of this fine city, I can assure you that taxi fares are indeed expensive. I'm guessing that a taxi ride Red Hook/Upper West Side could be $30-40, depending on the time of day. There are hotels in lower Manhattan that are closer to Red Hook, which you might want to consider if it is possible for you to change your hotel reservation.
