I was hoping somebody would come along with some first-hand information, but it dosen't look like that is going to happen. But here is a link to a site that lists hotels near the cruise terminal in Acapulco; unfortunately, I can't vouch for any of them.
Well I have never stayed in the area. We have cruised here twice. If I remember correctly the places near the port are not too nice. The nicer places were futher from the center of town. Once when we were in port there was a ship taking on passengers. There were alot of shuttles there, so it looked like the hotel would get you to the port.
We are not real picky as to where we stay, a nice bed and good price is fine with me. I did not see any that I would feel safe in. I did walk the beach area at night. I felt safe, there are arm poice everywhere.
I like the area "Around Acapulco". Acapulco seems to have more than it's share of slum problems in the intercity. It is one of, if not the most pushy, when it comes to venders being in your face. I still like the surround area and the beautiful port.
As noted many times our cruise selection on the West Coast is not very big.
I think it's time to start exploring some of Holland America's itineraries that venture up into the Sea of Cortez; Copper Canyon looks very interesting, especially for cruisers that like to take lots of photos, like you and I.
That is a 10 day cruise and sounds great. Some friends took it and hated it. I have read what others have written and think we might try it.
With that said we hare pretty book until 2010...
If our Son is station overseas which looks like it will happen, we will do a land tour of Spain or Italy.
