Overnight Hotel Accomodation

I am joining the NCL Sun on 25 March. I arrive on 24 March from London, UK and staying at the Holiday Inn (near the airport). Is this far from the Port of Miami?

As I wont have a car, I was planning on going into Miami on 24th for a look around but bit concerned that I am going to spend a fortune on cabs. If it works out too expensive, are there any Malls near the Holiday Inn?

Rental car rates from Dollar Rent a car are very good and would choose this mode over cabs for one day.

We spent $70 on cabs, three cabs altogether as we did not know the area but we had a good day in Miami
