I need some more help. Hubby wants us now to fly to Florida (we usually make the drive from Virginia-10 hours- 3 kids)
Before we book- what is the earliest flight time we should book the day we disembark. He was going to do 12:15. Is that possibly cutting it close?

Any other flight tips?

I guess you are flying out of MCO? 12:15 is probably safe, although something a tad later may be better. We've made noonish flights from Orlando before, and with at least an hour to spare. But things can happen. I'd definitely have a ride arranged. We had a limo waiting for us.

Try Art's Shuttle.

You haven't flown since 1985? Oh boy! Are you in for a shock!

No.. I flew once in 1979
one in 84 and twice in 85.

I am not nervous about the flight- I am nervous about not having control of the flight times, lost luggage etc.

Anyone have a must check ticket website? I looked on Expedia and hubby is on travelocity- wow we are looking at $2000 to go from NC to FL!(5 people)

Please consider flying into Orlando the day or night before the cruise leaves. You can stay at a hotel near the port. It costs a bit more because of the hotel, but the peace of mind it gives you about not missing your cruise or losing your luggage? "Priceless" as they say. Then on cruise day, you can wake up at a leisurely time for the 5 of you, and take a hotel shuttle to the port at embarkation time.

Shelby,

Sandy is 100% correct on the importance of flying down the day before the cruise. It is worth the price of a hotel room to get there a day early. It seems just about anything can disrupt flights across the country these days. Something that happens in Denver can cause flights from Boston to be delayed or cancelled, as an example. We never fly down on the same day the cruise departs.

We always go the day before, ever since our flight down for a cruise was extremely delayed and we were not sure we would make the ship. It was one of the most nerve wracking experiences of my life. There were 7 of us and that caused concerns because of the expense we would have incurred to catch up with the ship. the cost of the hotel room is well worth it.

Yes, we are taking every precaution on that front. Our flight is scheduled to leave in enough time so that if we hadsome problem we could hop in the car and drive to the port and still have extra time. We have already booked hotel and shuttle.
