Taking another Alaskan Cruise in the middle of June. Any good tips on Park and cruise motels, or thought on must things to do or see there in Vancouver? We will be spending a weeks weeks in the Bremerton area, and often visit that area (son is in the Navy) but don't make it to the Vancouver area.
Thanks
When in Vancouver make sure to visit GasTown. We went through it on the bus on the way to the dock to catch the ship, looks very interesting and there is a clock there that blows steam every 15 minutes. Next time I want to spend a day in Vancouver before embarking on the cruise.
Thanks Greyson. GasTown sounds like a visit. We plan on spending at least two days in the area.
Do you know how the parking is there? Is it close to the Ships?
Its a bit of a walk, but more through the terminal than anything. The terminal sits about a block from GasTown. Not sure what the parking situation is but if I remember right there was a parking garage at the terminal and you could probably turn in a rental car there. May want to check it out online though. Have a great time. What ship are you sailing?
By the way, where near Yosemite do you live. Im in Minnesota now for the last 9 years but moved from Yuba City-Marysville in 1997. Would you believe we lived in CA for 30+ years and I never once made it to Yosemite.
Hi. Firstly the assumption (though probably correct) is that you will be departing from Canada Place in downtown Vancouver. If so, and you want to be close, Fairmont Waterfront Hotel and Pan Pacific are right there. Pan Pacific is actually attached to the terminal.Last time we cruised we took a Marriot hotel room in Richmond (which is not downtown) the night before departure and the night we arrived back. The hotel allowed us to park out our vehicle for the week for a low nominal fee. Richmond is a $30 taxi ride into downtown.(However the cost of the room more than made up for the taxi fare both ways.) GasTown is an great place to visit... full of shops however there are lots of nice hotels around the cruise ship teminal. Do you have access to AAA? Get one of their tourist guides and look at the location of the hotels on it. As well your cruis line probably has add on hotels...check them out.
As to what to do in Vancouver...it depends what you like...lots to choose from...there is an Info Centre attached to the Waterfront hotel across from Canada Place.
The mountains around us, and the high country are getting plenty of snow, That means come May Yosemite will be in it's full glory, lots of color, lots of water. The falls should be great this year. You should stop by!
Good day, my wife and I are book on the June 9 cruise leaving Vancouver, but we have decided to fly in on the Friday June 8th from Toronto where we live and are staying at the Pan Pacific. THis was all book thru Princess as they have a special deal if you add on. The cost is not cheap, but it's a big worry off our shoulders, as out travel agent say we would have lot of time to fly out on the Saturday, but we worry if there are plane delays and we miss our boat. This hotel will take your bags right to the boat for you and you can have a late checkout from your room.
