I'm leaving Saturday (!!!) to drive to Bayonne, NJ, for my cruise out of Cape Liberty, which leaves Sunday. We have a hotel package that allows us to leave our car at the hotel; however, it does not include a shuttle to the port.
I've read in many reviews that Cape Liberty can be a mess and that sometimes people sit in taxis in traffic forever as the meter runs up. Based on this info, my husband researched a car service to take us from the hotel to the port on embarkation day and vice versa the day we get off the ship. The cost runs $45 (flat rate) each way.
My questions are...
How much does it typically cost by taxi? Would this be worth it?
If we're having a car pick us up at Cape Liberty on the day we return, what time should we tell them? I don't want to be standing in the cold in Bayonne, waiting... I also don't want to make them mad if it takes us awhile to get off the ship. (I don't even know if RCCL does it, but we will NEVER do self-disembarkation again...we'd be happy being the very last people off the ship!)
Any help would be much appreciated!

Cortney-
I am traveling with my family (there is 7 of us total) on Explorer of Seas leaving May 9th and we are wondering about transportation. We live in Chicago and have never been to NJ or NY area before and Royal Caribbean's transfers are $52pp and that is almost $400 for all of us. I have read about taxi's and we would need at least 3 of them and we do not want to get stuck in traffic so what would be some cheaper options for us? We looked into State Shuttle out of NJ do you know of them?
