I suppose so, but it is farther away and no doubt there are fewer flight options than you'd get by flying to LAX or LGB. I'd look for the best fare and times and not worry about which airport. It's southern California after all.
I fly into Long Beach often. We have family there, plus were from there. Anyways, I would choose Orange County (John Wayne Airport) over Burbank. To get from Burbank to LB, you would basically have to drive through central LA. From orange county to LB, I would bet good money, it will take you less time, considering traffic. There is almost always traffic everywhere. Not alot of airlines fly into LB, we go on US Airways, Southwest doesn't fly into LB. I personally would fly into LA or OC, if not Long Beach. If you are taking a taxi from LA or OC to Long Beach, you will get KILLED in taxi fare, with the distance and sitting in traffic. Maybe fly into LB, even if its more expensive, to cut down on taxi fare and increase the convenience factor. Good luck, Lil' Lori
Dave, are you taking a shuttle van? LAX is great, it's the dang freeways around it. Hopefully, you'll get on and buzz right down the freeway. It does happen, depending on which way you are going, and what time of day. I used to live in Long Beach, and drive to Manhattan Beach for work, my shift was 3pm-11pm. I would buzz right along. After that and is really starts to slow down. Sometimes, when I fly into LAX for a better fare, I take the Metrolink from LAX to Long Beach. It takes about 20 minutes, and a few bucks, it drops me off in Norwalk, which is about 10 minutes from my family house in LB. It sure is great for them, to not battle the freeways. Hey, I just saw on Fox News, that the south is having a cold weather front. Good luck with that. It is supposed to be 68 here, and we are all freezing. These are our winter temps. Lil' Lori
Orange County/John Wayne Aiport (SNA) is 20 miles south from Long Beach Airport. LAX is the same 20 miles but is north. Burbank is 40 miles north and San Diego is 100 miles South. I prefer either Long Beach or Orange County airport over LAX. LAX can be a nightmare.
