I was just wanting to know of a good hotel in Seattle. We will be going June 2010. I was wanting to stay in Seattle for a couple of days before our cruise to Alaska. We have never been to Seattle so if you have any must see or do activities please let me know. Thanks so much for your help.

It's been a while since I was in Seattle. The last time I stayed at the Plaza. I think it's the Crowne Plaza now. I went up in the Space Needle, but of course, it was raining. So if the weather's nice, you could go up there. Also, if the weather's nice, maybe Mount Ranier National Park. There's a pretty good art museum downtown, too. Hopefully, someone has been there more recently. Like I said, it's been at least 15 years since I've been there.

Can't help with lodging as we get to stay with family . . . however, no trip to Seattle is complete without a visit to the Pike Street Market. If you go to City Center - where the Space Needle is - there is a monorail that goes between City Center and the waterfront area where the Market is. If you rent a car - or check with the hotel, they may have information on excursions - definitely Mt Rainier or Mt St Helens, Snoqualmie Falls. A trip to the locks or a ferry boat ride across the sound to explore some of the islands. If you can get into Tacoma there is the Dale Chirhuly Glass Museum. The Emerald City is a wonderful town. Lots of shops and galleriers and boutiques all over downtown.

One more quick question...are there two ports in Seattle? I know there is Pier 66, but I thought I had heard of another one.
