San Juan hotels...

I am curious if anyone has any recommendations for hotels within short distance (walking distance would be fantastic) of the royal caribbean port in San Juan. Thanks guys!!

Here's one idea

I booked on Hotwire and am staying at LE CONSULAT. It is not necessarily near the port but I was told cab rides are reasonable. It looks like a nice place and is in old San Juan and near a beach. I can let you know more when I get back. We are staying March 26th.

Hi yagerbomb..We stayed two precruise nites in Old San Juan in 08 and wanted to experience some of the nite life and such so we found the Hotel Milano ( a small quaint hotel) located in the narrow streets of Old San Juan..The hotel was clean and a reminder of the earlier days of the inner city that we wanted. It included breakfast each morning and although we had a front room looking down on the street life, it was quiet and we enjoyed the experience very much. We had to pay for transportation to the cruise port but being where we were gave us great access to the local watering holes, restaurants, the old city and publice transportation to see the sites and visit both the forts with ease. Enjoy your time there.

Hi yagerbomb, we stayed at the Condado Plaza, which was very convenient, and not too bad for San Juan in price. I believe it was $189. They had a nice casino, good food, and walking distance to shops. If you can, do what peter l did and spend either a couple of days before cruise or one before and one after. There is a lot to do and see in San Juan.
