Default Walking to ship from hotel
When we cruise in February, we will be departing from San Juan. We are booked at the Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel and Casino, which is across from the port.

My question is, will we be allowed to walk directly from the hotel to the ship?

Thank you!

Nadine

Not all ships embark passengers at the piers in Old San Juan so you need to make sure which terminal is being used. The Pan American piers are across the bay and about 3 miles away by road. My understanding is the piers in the downtown area are usually for visiting ships and the Pan American piers are for ships that at homeported in San Juan.

Thank you Dave. I guess I should have checked on this before making reservations! Oh, well, we will see ships while they are in port. It's just not as convenient as I thought it would be.

Carnival uses the pier downtown and Royal Caribbean uses Pan American.

Carnival: Port of San Juan
Paseo Concepcion de Garcia
Pier (Muelle) #4
Old San Juan, Puerto Rico
Travel Time: 8 miles from the San Juan International Airport; travel time is approximately 45 minutes. Taxi service is approximately $18.00 one-way.

Royal Caribbean: PIER TERMINAL:
Pan American Pier
Isla Grande, Santurce, Puerto Rico

AIRPORT:
Luis Munoz Marin International Airport
Travel time to Port - approximately 25 minutes

DRIVING:
From Luis Munoz Marin International Airport: Exit the airport taking the middle lane on Baldorioty Ave. This avenue wil take you to New and Old San Juan. Once you are at the end of the avenue you will find a traffic light. One the right you will see the Condado Lagoon and on your left you will see the Yacht Club. This is a one-way road. Stay in the left lane and follow the signs directing to San Juan or the Convention Centre. Keep to your left and make a U-turn whenever possible. After the turn, remain on the right hand side and continue forward past the Yacht Club, Sizzlers Restaurant and at the corner make a right, continue to the traffic light, make a right hand turn at the next right follow the road to the entrance of the pier.

Thank you Cruise Fanatic for the info. We will be on RCCL. Our cruise isn't until February, but the time is going so fast!
