Any suggestions for hotels in Boston. We leave this fall.

Hi Atlasta, and welcome to cruise-chat. How long will you be staying in Boston? Do you need a place for sleeping only, or do you want to do some sightseeing? If yes on the sightseeing, are there any attractions of interest, so we can get you to a hotel that's close by?

Hotels are pretty pricey up here, but keep in mind that you wil not need to rent a car.

We are flying in a day early for some sightseeing. Even though we have been to Boston several times. we still want to sightsee and have a good New England dinner. With two couples and all of the cruise luggage, we may be better off staying near port and taking a taking Public Transportation to the sights. Someone suggested we stay by the Wharf. I am not sure where that is.

The person who mentioned "The Wharf" was likely referring to the area near the Long Wharf Marriott and Aquarium. This is in the main part of the city and is within reasonable walking distance of Quincy Market and the North End. The area close to the cruise terminal, on the other side of the channel, has been built up recently, and there are several hotels and restaurants. There is also direct transportation into the South Station area via our relatively new Silver Line. It's a very pretty area with great views -- at least from one of the offices I visited some time ago.

If you're staying a couple days, I love what's called the 'back bay' area.
The prudential observatory gives you a great view of the city. Newbury street has some funky shops.
I would also recommend using the trolley service. It's a little pricey, but less than a cab and less intimidating than the subway. The drivers are very knowledgable and tourist oriented.
The duck tour is another great way to see a lot of the town in a short time.
