Looking for a good safe hotel in Miami - We are doing a cruise Aug 20 - 27 spending the night in Miami - Cruising again August 28 - Sept 1.

How should I go about getting back to the port?

From Miami - How much is it for a cab to South Beach?

I've had good luck at the Holiday Inn at the Port of Miami. It basically right there outside the port entrance and across the street from the Bayside area. So there is a lot to do in walking distance from it. I have never taking a cab from the Hotel to south beach, so I can't answer your second question.

When you stayed at the holiday inn by the port about how much was it for a night? One person told me about $85 a couple but when i called they said around $164 a couple. We would really like to stay there but we want something that is not that expensive for one night. Any ideas please help.

I would check with expedia.com for a hotel. Even if you don't book through them, you will get a list of hotels that meet your criteria and give you a basis for what hotel rates are in that area.

I have stayed at the Holiday Inn many times, usually Dec/Jan/Feb time frame. I have never paid more than $99-$109 plus tax. $164 a night is very high for the HI unless there is some big event in town that week and rooms are at a premium.

I agree with cruise fanatic, HI should not be that expensive, did you try and book on the HI site on the net? We last sailed on Radiance in January and found it really hard to get a hotel in Bayside, we found out next morning that there was a marathon on, it started at 6am which was pretty cool as we were right in front and saw the ships docking. The hotel we sayed at for $70 for 3 adults was Riande Continental Bayside, now we read some pretty horrendous reviews before we booked but since our choice was extremely limited unless we wanted to pay upwards of $300 we took a chance and I have to say that for the money it did not deserve the reviews we read. Our stay was perfectly fine, the room was clean we had a front view the staff were very helpful, ok the breakfast did not look much but we always go around the corner to downtown where you can eat a decent breakfast with fab coffee for a few dollars. hope this is helpful.
