Grand Princess to Florence in May

We've taken a couple of week-long cruises in the Caribbean, but now we are taking a major plunge(?) with a 1st cruise to the Med. on the Grand Princess (28 da.). I've seen a lot of postings recommending the train from Livorno to Florence, and that's what we are going to do. The ship hits Livorno twice, 1st on Sunday, 2nd on Wed. Thought it best to go to Florence on the 1st day, and to Pisa on 2nd. Good idea, or better suggestions? Also, PortReview site suggests going past the Galleria Della A. to another office for tix. Looks like tix can be gotten online (e.g.Tickitaly) Better idea? Esp for someone with almost no Italian and only a moderate amt. of Spanish. Any suggestions welcome!!

quite a jump, from a 7 day Caribbean to a 28 day Mediterranean--my hat's off to you!

I can't address both your questions, but I would suggest you look a little closer at going to Florence on Sunday; and the reason I say this is Florence has many more venues than Pisa;
that translates to many more places likely to be closed because it is Sunday. In Pisa the main attraction is, of course, the Leaning Tower and the Basilica, which can be enjoyed even if you can't access the interior. But in Florence there are so many things you could miss on Sunday.

I hope other posters can offer more insights; but I would think some more about ging to Florence first.
